I obtained my undergraduate degree at Caltech and my graduate degree at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. After several years of postdoctoral research in molecular biology, I taught at the University of Texas at Dallas and ran a molecular biology research laboratory. For personal reasons, I left academia and switched fields to software engineering. This is not as unusual a career transition as it might at first seem, because I had been programming computers since I was in high school. Currently, I am a senior software engineer, and I also have a second career as an adjunct professor with a major distance learning institution, teaching mathematics and computer science. My interests range from software development to genetic engineering, as well as a wide range of general science topics.
