I have been involved in journalism since starting on Durban's Natal Mercury back in 1984 and finally specialised in sport as of 1989, though it was always my first choice, when I joined the Daily News, the Tribune's sister paper. A three-year period spent working in England from 1998-2000 (inclusive) followed by a return to the Daily News as Deputy Chief Sub-Editor (Sport) and at the start of 2006 taking over as Sports Editor of the Tribune. I have a three-year degree-equivalent College Diploma in Journalism, awarded at the end of 1986. In 2002 I was awarded the Premier's Award for my lifetime contribution to sport in KwaZulu-Natal through sports journalism. I am a voracious reader of biographies, mystery novels and reviewing films.
