I am a doctoral candidate at the Wildlife Conservation Research at the University of Oxford in the UK in association with Telemark University College, Norway. My previous qualifications are a BSc in Zoology at the University of Glasgow and an MSc in Applied Ecology and Conservation at the University of East Anglia. I am interested in many aspects of the ecology, evolution and conservation of vertebrates (animals with a backbone). As an undergraduate student, I was involved in research and conservation projects on sea-turtles in North Cyprus and bird life in the lower slopes of the Bolivian Andes. I have also previously worked with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. In the last few years I have been focusing on mammals and my work has involved studies on 'small mammals' (small rodents, shrews etc), bats and, in particular, the Eurasian beaver (Castor fiber). Indeed, my doctoral thesis is on the behavioural ecology of the Eurasian beaver in Norway.

My other interests include photography, hiking and cross-country skiing. This all sounds rather wholesome and I suppose it is really.
