Member editorial staff of The World Book Encyclopedia for 37 years, including 10 years as editor-in-chief. Had overall responsibility for the quality, accuracy, up-to-dateness, and authority of the encyclopedia. Work involved English language editions for sale in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, India, and Canada. Established an effective program of current revision to make sure the encyclopedia remained in step with fast moving dvelopments in all fields of knowledge. Helped establish and work with advisory boards of scholars. Currently retired.
