Dr Richard Phillipps has worked at Bond University, Queensland, Australia, from 2004 onwards. His present title is Research Fellow in the Faculty of Humanities. He also edits Bond University's Humanities Faculty News. Dr Phillipps was previously at the University of Western Sydney (from 1987 to early 2004) where he founded the teaching of Public Relations.
>From 1965 to 1986 he worked at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (from 1974 as its Senior Information Officer) and in 1986 and 1987 he was with MMA Public Relations in Sydney. He has also worked on the Australian Financial Review asnd city, suburban and rural publications.
He gained his PhD from the University of Sydney in 2003 - his thesis was titled "Media Advisers - Shadow Players in Political Communication". His Master of Arts from the University of Sydney, gained in 1986, was by coursework and a thesis titled "Australian Business Communicators and House Journals Analysed". His BA (awarded 1977) was from the University of New England in Australia.
