I come from Chicago Illinois, USA, but have lived in Denmark for five and a half years. Both my parents are Danish and was born in America, so I have dual citizenship. My educational background is a bit of a mixed bag. My father, Lars Smedskjaer, is a Ph.D. physicist and has worked at Argon National Laboratory until the Clinton Administration. There after, he worked time to time for UIC in Chicago teaching physics. He ran a Danish Website, the Censur Rapport, which reported censorship on the internet in Denmark. I learned science at a young age from him, but I was home schooled from the fifth grade. When I was 19, I moved to Denmark in 2002 to attend schools in Denmark. The first school was The International Peoples College (www.ipc.dk) for a 20 week course on globalization, regional studies and NGO work. I then attended a language school close to Aarhus, Kalø Language school. I attended two 20 week courses in Danish. I, at the same school, took an organic farming course. On the practical side, I learned the inner workings of tractors and equipment and learned about the practical theories of basic farming. I worked for one and a half years in Lolland as a farm hand. After working as a farm hand, I decided I wanted to learn science again. I wished to attend university, but before I am accepted, I must attend HF, an exam that equates high school in the US. I have so far attended history (which was mostly about Denmark's history) English A (highest level in HF, but mostly because I wanted something easy to fill out my hours), Physics B, Chem B, Basic Science Group C, Religion C, Social Studies C, Math B. I must pass Physics and Math A to attend University of Copenhagen's astrophysics courses. On top of these courses, I must pass Danish A level to earn my HF degree.
