I am a graduate of Queens College with a degree in Environmental Science/Biology. Currently I am taking courses in biology to fulfill requirements for veterinary schools and working as a veterinarian technician for a non-profit animal shelter.Throughout my undergraduate years at Queens College I was involved in many clubs and organizations. I was vice president and president of the Environmental Science club, educating students on global and local environmental issues. I was also a member of NYPIRG, getting people registered to vote, informing the public of environmental injustices in their communities and lobbying in Albany, New York for higher education. My ultimate goal is to work in the medical field with exotic animals; whether I am a technician or a veterinarian. Working with animals, as I have done for the past five years is especially fascinating. I have learned a great deal about canine and felines anatomy, physiology and behavior. Soon I will start volunteering for a rescue group in Long Island, N.Y. that takes in injured wildlife, rehabilitates them and releases them back into their environment. Volunteering for this rescue group will further expand my knowledge for animal care and will be an invaluable experience.
