Doug Deal was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1972. Deal received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Enginnering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1997. He worked as a chemical project engineer for 3 years, specializing in design and construction of equipment for surfactant production as well as mathematical modeling of chemical processes. In 2000, he entered the field of Information Technology.

Since then, Deal has worked on the development of applications for point of sale systems (POS) as well as web based application for government and industry.

Deal has a strong interest in Astronomy and Physics, as well as politics, history and economics.
