I fell into online instruction ten years ago when I walked into the offices of Dr. J. Barry Duvall. Barry initiated the first fully online program at East Carolina University and for most universities in the US. I started as a graduate student, and over the years I have become one the leaders in our state when it comes to the application of technology to teaching. My job at ECU is Liaison. In this role, I provide our university with recommendations for the use and management of technology. I am on the UNC Teaching and Learning with Technology Collaborative and I volunteer with the Educause Learning Initiative as a moderator of their focus sessions. I am currently working on my EdD in Educational Leadership with an emphasis in instructional development. My dissertation is based on the work of Randy Garrison et al. and theory of critical inquiry.
