I am a newspaper reporter, for the Bangkok Post at present, although I have had several employers in my life. I am a Canadian-born, naturalized American citizen. I was chief of the United Press International bureau in Saigon when the communists captured South Vietnam in 1975, probably the highlight of a lifetime of reporting news in North America and Asia. Since entering South Vietnam in 1967, my specialties have been reporting on war, violence, terrorism, drug trafficking and allied cross-border crime, in Asia and around the world.
