My name is Alain POIRAUD, I was born in France in 1943;

My main job has been Biomedical Engineer and I have worked for several American companies in the field of cardiac prosthesis (Heart valves) and artificial heart..

After building my own steel sailing boat from scratch, I launched it in 1992 and start wandering on seas and oceans during 13 years as a liveaboard.

During my navigations, in order to solve many anchoring problems, I designed the Spade anchor, a new efficient design.(see: www.spade-anchor.com)

Now, I’m retired and spending most of my time traveling around South America.
