My name is Thomas Cassidy. I'm a 54 year old, married male with one child who is shortly entering college in Boston. I live in Freehold, New Jersey for the past 20 years having come here from New York back in the 80's.
I hold an associates degree in liberal arts, studied economics in the NY State University system. I recieved rudmentary training in Computer science in 1978 and became a computer programmer in 1979.
I then moved from Long Island, NY into Brooklyn, NY where I spent what I see as my "formative" years.
I have worked in information systems for 28 years now and most recently I work as a contractor in QA analysis and software testing.
I incurred an incomplete spinal cord injury back in January, 2004, spending 3 months in a rehabiliation hospital made famous by the late Chris Reeves. This has dramatically colored my life since then. One of the things that brings me to a site like this is a search for information that affects people like myself. (I am not wheelchair bound - just hampered in my mobility - a big deal for someone who enjoyed hiking and diy projects around the house).
I'm of course interested in all sorts of computer and technology related issues and topics, but I also love good literature, political and economic writings.
