I was born and still live in [[Rome]], although my family originates from the [[Marche]] region of central Italy, where I still spend part of the year (and can often be found taking long walks and treks outdoors). I am currently enrolled in the last year of [[medical school]], making [[Medicine]] an obvious field of interest of mine (my preferred subjects being [[Internal Medicine]] in general, [[Cardiology]] and [[Palliative Care]] in particular). I have an interest in the techniques of medical teaching and learning, and have spent some time in the [[UK]] on an [[Erasmus]] placement during my undergraduate course. I hold a [[Certificate of Proficiency in English]] by the [[University of Cambridge]] and still visit the UK at least annually. From [[1998]] to [[2003]] I have worked part-time as an English to Italian translator and editor on the Italian-language editions of [[DC comics]] material, thus developing a professional level of knowledge of the field of American comics. I am a rather avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction, and in the latter category my main interest is [[history]] (with a focus on the emergence of [[Europe|European]] ethnic identities in the transition from [[Ancient Rome|Roman]] to [[Middle Ages|Medieval]] times). More recently, I am starting to develop an interest in [[cinema]].
